Summer Fun

This is just some of the fun we have been having this summer. We have been lucky enough to have my family in town from Florida and Arizona. We have all been hanging out at my parents in Park City and it's been great, nothing like watching all the cousins having a blast together and playing speed scrabble with my mom and sisters! We even hit Seven Peaks for Hailey's birthday and that always scores us bonus points with the kids. The other night we (17 of us) hit the SL Real soccer game and that was a lot of fun, the weather was perfect and it was a close game at the end, (we won yeah!) This is what summer is all about, swimming, playing, hanging out and having fun...I love it! Hope everyone is doing the same.

Why so serious?

Need I say more? Heath Ledger is absolutely brilliant as the psychotic and intoxicating Joker in "The Dark Knight". He by far makes this show worth watching as I waited for each scene to include him in it, disappointed when he wasn't included. And even though I downed a huge popcorn and massive amounts of Diet Coke, I wasn't about to leave the theatre for a potty break...even if that meant wetting myself a bit. (Ok, that didn't really happen, I came prepared with catheter in hand.) But back to Heath's Oscar winning performance...something about him was mysterious and electrifying, I just wanted more and more!!

So, if you haven't seen this yet, what are you waiting for? It is a must!

Happy Birthday

Happy 13th Birthday to this wonderful daughter of mine!!! I can't believe you are a teenager today! Here are 13 things I love about Hailey:
1. She was born with this beautiful thick, blonde hair...it's gorgeous!
2. She has the most tender heart I've ever seen! After Hurricane Katrina she raised money for the Red Cross and donated over 3oo dollars to help the victims.
3. She has a great sense of humor...very witty, just like her dad!
4. She would never hurt someones feelings on purpose, very concerned about others.
5. She loves her family and still gets homesick.
6. She loves to watch Amazing Race with me.
7. She is usually the last one to finish eating...I love that about her!
8. She is a great student and cares about her grades.
9. She LOVES her dog, Mocha!
10. She has this internal moral compass, she just gets it and does the right thing. She is an amazing example to me.
11. She came to live with our family and be MY daughter!
12. She is extremely sensitive!!
13. She is just Hailey...I can't think of my life without her in it.
I love you babe...I hope you have a terrific birthday. Love your mommy!!

This is what happens...

This is what happens when you are the ONLY man in the house with 5 girls. You go looking everywhere for a manly or just plain band-aid, and all you can find is this...a Barbie one. Now how can a real man, who is digging a 4 foot trench in the front yard to fix a broken water main be expected to retain his dignity with this on? Good thing for my awesome husband that he is confident with his testosterone levels and presses onward, not letting a little pink flowery sticker get in his way. Man, this guy really does deserve a medal...putting up with 5 females is not easy, trust me on this one. We love you babe and good job on fixing the sprinkler system!

Dirty Little Secret

I know, it's terribly embarrassing to admit, but it's the truth...I'm hooked on this show. I'm actually DVR'ing the series, "Tori & Dean, Home Sweet Hollywood". But in my defense it happened in a moment of serious weakness. Just a couple of weeks ago, I was feeling a bit down in the dumps and channel surfing...looking for anything that would not require any thinking on my part and wha-lah I stumbled upon this on the Oxygen channel. Normally I would blow right past this reality series, I usually pay no mind to such frivolous and self promoting reality shows, such as this, but for some reason I stopped. Could be that I wanted to see what she was like, that I thought her husband was kinda cute or that I wanted to see if she was bratty and spoiled. Now I was never a watcher of Beverly Hills 90210...so I really have never paid any attention to her, so I didn't know what to expect. And amazingly, she's not really bratty and I like her husband, he's funny and down to earth and is always making some sex remark (reminds me of someone I know) so I sat my butt down and watched for like 3 straight hours. It's kinda like you know you shouldn't be watching it, but you can't help it...I close the blinds so the neighbors can't see and I watch as their lives unfold in front of me. It takes no brain power, I don't have to worry about anything for an hour and it serves absolutely no purpose but pure entertainment...I love it! You should watch, then we could discuss the episodes together...is that going too far...Ok, never mind.

I want you to meet your cousins...

These fine fellers are your cousins twice removed on your Grandpa Earl's cousin's ex wife's neighbors brother's side!! Yes, tis the season people...Summer, BBQ's, Fireworks, and Family Reunions! I have to say I have had the splendid opportunity to attend two said reunions already this summer and fortunately these two have yet to show up, although there were others with some resemblances. How does this happen, and does this happen in everyone's family? This is a question I'd like to know the answer to. One reunion was on my dad's side and the other was a reunion with Randy's family. In both cases, there were always interesting people there...and I use that term "interesting" quite liberally. I think somewhere, somehow, down the line there was some cross breeding going on! (And I thought that only happened in Ky.) I am just waiting for the day to be invited to Paris Hilton's Family Reunion at the local fairgrounds and see what turns up there....

Hopefully we'll be doing lots more of this, this summer!! We got our boat towards the end of last summer so we hope to get alot more use out of it this year. Let the fun begin and let's pray I stay behind the camera...not in front. (Me + swimsuit = Unhappy momma this year!) Here's to everyone having a great summer thus far!
