Sister

For the past couple of days now I have been thinking so much about my sister, Camille. She is my oldest sister and is really a great example to me. She has 3 wonderful children, 2 daughters and a son named Emory. Emory has autism, which was diagnosed when he was about 2 1/2. He is now 11 and I know there have been plenty of tough times for her. She is a wonderful mother to all of her children, but I have watched through the years how she mothers Emory. It can't be easy to watch your son struggle with things that are easy for everyone else. Her patience with him is amazing and I have seen so many positive changes in him through the years. He is a sweet boy, he says things that are so funny...one day he was upset with Camille and proceeded to tell her she was "FIRED". I still laugh about that one, because believe me there are days that, as mothers, we'd probably all like to "QUIT"! When Emory was diagnosed Camille wouldn't stop searching until she found something that she thought could help him. I'm sure she has gone to hell and back, looking for ways in which to help her son. I was watching a program on Autism the other day and heard a mom talking about her autistic son, she said, "He is in there, it is my job to bring him out". This is what Camillle has spent her days and nights doing, she tirelessly and lovingly dedicates herself to finding help for Emory. On top of all that she has two other children and is a wife as well.

I love my sister, I love the example she is to me and so many others. She has a strength in her that I'm not sure I would have. I look up to her and know that one day she will receive many blessings for the work she has done with Emory. I know that in Heaven, he will be made perfect and will lovingly embrace her and tell her, "Thanks for not ever giving up on me, mom"!

So sister, on this day please know that I am thanking you...thanking you for the example you are and for the joy and happiness you bring into my life. I am truly proud of you!

very nice tribute to your sister...she is special, just as you are and I am proud to be the DAD.. as I reflect on our family I can recall many obstacles we each have had to face. Most importantly I remember the determination and belief in oneself to overcome and at the same time take care of others, like kids, parent, spouses, etc.

M: "True ELOQUENCE is that which holds us too mute for APPLAUSE"
All Emory is he owes to his angel mother. Did you know Camille's name means "Handmaiden of God" - very fitting, don't you think! Thank you for sharing such sweet sentiments about this very amazing woman in our lives.
And don't forget about that sweet woman in the middle of you two... GIGI - another wonderful woman who has blessed our lives.

Your sister does sound like an amazing woman. Was that Oprah you were watching? I watched one with Jenny McCarthy and it seems like something similar that was said.
